« on: Sunday 25 April 04 01:52 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information on a ALICE MAY BREEDS who was born 1890 in Sussex.
Apparently she went off to California and started a school there......

Thanks

Also HARRIETT BREEDS (Nee WILLIS)

Apparently she recieved a gift of deed to some property in NY and left her husband and children to go there.....

Here eldest son was born about 1877 - so would have been after this.

She was born about 1830.

Thanks

Hi Twink
Think this is your Alice, on the 1901 UK census.

She does not show up on the 1920, nor 1930 US census.
Also does not appear on Ellis Island Records which are available through 1924.

I found on California Death Index
BREEDS, Alice Maryy, b 26 May, 1890, Death Date: 20 March 1978.
Place of Birth: Other country.  Place of death: Sacramento, CA
Social Security # 571-44-8353.  Lots of coincidences, but could be her.

Hi Grub

That CA Death for an ALICE MARY BREEDS would fit.  I know her birth was registered in AMJ 1890.

Many thanks for looking.

As for HARRIETT BREEDS - I believe my Grandfather tried to 'find' her and information on this supposed gift of deed but didn't have any luck.

Regards
