I'm sure I've seen the name Borlase in the Madron or Paul registers which border Penzance, will take another look for you tomorrow.

I found a William Borlase from Madron but slightly too early to be your gg grandfather married an Ann Christoe July 21st in Paul 1821. You really need to apply for his birth certificate having family from this part of Cornwall with common names, I'm sure you could easily trace yours with an unusual Cornish name. Good luck Alice.

Hello again Ian, I don't know if you have come across this 1851 census on COCP seems to show your family with Ann as sailors wife & children you mention apart from William, HO107/1918 folio 743 pg 30.

Their does also seem to be alot of Borlase families in St Just on genes R & Roots Web family connect may be worth searching?
