Where is this place??
« on: Monday 23 March 09 20:17 GMT (UK) »
Just a quickie, can anyone tell me if this is a place or a farm or such like.  It appeared after the parents name on a baptismal record, "............., Cnwch Gwyn"  This was in 1849-1855.

Thanks

Helen

Which parish was it? I can find a reference to Cnwch coch grid ref SN 6775, so perhaps there was a corresponding white hillock nearby?

If you look at the Genuki page for the parish, there are lists of hamlets within the parish for Cardiganshire

Thanks for the reply.  The Archives had done a research on the marriage which was in parish of Caron Uwch Clawdd and looked in the parish register of the local church in Strata Florida.  They went onto to say that they had found some baptisms so I presume in the same parish. The details I got e.g.,
Evan and Elizabeth Davies children of Thomas and Jane Davies, Cnwch Gwyn

It could be the name of the house or farm. There's certainly a small holding in the parish on the 1881 called Cnwch at RG11/5452 folio 70 pg 10. Could the record office not help with their detailed maps?
