Rogers - Brymbo

 Can anyone help me with my ancestors Thomas Rogers and Jane Jones
i am so fed up with jones's they are possibly my Sixth jones Family in my tree - everytime i find a new Line it's a Jones! (and i'm on my second Rogers Too!!)

Thomas Roger was born in c.1838 Brymbo to a Thomas and Mary Frances - that much i do know (but no maiden name - fingers crossed for somthing not starting in "J"!!!)

Jane Jones
Was Born c. 1839 in Brymbo - that is about it for her!
what i do know
1. North wales BMD - Rogers and Jones Marriage 1868 Wrexham
2. Their first daughter Mary Frances was born Brymbo, 1870
           other children - William Metz  (1873) Julia (1874 and Thomas (1876)

3. i found thomas and jane  in 1871 and 81 - in Long Row, Brymbo
thats about it

Can anyone out there help me with Rogers and jones - i have been told they are both pretty common surnames

Hi Betton.  Had a good look at the records and found that the name of the daughter was Frances Mary Rogers and her birth was possibly registered in 1869 and the records should be in Wrexham.  I found Thomas junior in the '51 census living with his parents in Brymbo, possibly in the area of the Green (Shoemakers Row)  He had 1 brother and 1 sister.  Hope some of this helps.

Hi mike - i have found the Birth Certificate of Frances Mary  - her parents given as Thomas Rogers and Jane Formerly jones

Thomas and  Jane were married in Brynyffynon Wesleyan Chapel, Wrexham  (1868) - their parents Given as Thomas Rogers (Deceased Collier) and James Jones (Deceased Collier) - witnesses were William Rodgers, Mary Evans.

i havent found out anything about them before this time.. no census... nothing

The only one that is close is this one but both Thomas' are recorded as engineers rather than miners

Found a photo of Bryn y Ffynnon chapel in Wrexham which does not exist any more.  It has been replaced by a shopping center with a chapel in the center.  I find it strange that the marriage took place there as there were many more Methodist Chapels in the area available.  My wife and I were married in Brake Chapel, Moss which is a lot closer than  to where the marriage of Thomas and Jane took place.

Bethel was the Welsh Wesleyan Chapel in Brymbo whilst Brake was an English one, so this may have been the reason

i wonder if the reason he was married at this chapel could have been his possibly grand- father Thomas Rogers?? (Because the founding of this chapel was 1800)

i know my thomas (Who married Jane) was born in Brymbo c.1838 - and his parents were Thomas and Mary Frances Rogers
i have found them in 1871 - in Long Row Brymbo, Thomas's mother is living with them aged, 71 and a widow - but for this date i don't know anything about her - according to the census - and we ALL know how accurate they are!
she was born 1800 in Brymbo.
Rather bizarre - william their son had the middle name of what looks like "Metz" never  heard of that one before - have any of  you ??(how odd! - sounds slightly hebrew.) their other son is Thomas Jas. ( i'm not sure what that is abbreviated from - james??)
was that not a popular capel for marriages - it looks rather grand

I may have found Frances in 1861 but the census has her down as Fany!!.
Frances? Rogers a widow, 59, born Brymbo
Thomas Rogers, 23.
William Rogers, 20.
As a matter of interest, the next entry is William H Darby, Iron, Coal and Lime Master employing about 1100 people.  Very well known in this area but the steelworks no longer exists.
Unfortunately there are too many Thomas Rogers deaths in the area to decide which was which
