Margaret Glennie - Death 1875 or 1887
« on: Friday 27 March 09 22:59 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone give me some more information about Margaret Glennie ?

I have found 2 possible deaths for her:
a) 1875 in Old Machar  aged 64.
b) 1887 in Cluny           aged 75.
Can anyone advise if either have her father shown as being Robert Glennie?

Thanks Digger88.
There is a third one died in Clatt but its not her.

Thanks for checking that.
But maybe someone knows of an MI or maybe even a burial in Clatt. Without parents or an informant it is still not possible to identify Margaret properly.

The Margaret GLENNIE who died in Clatt in 1863 was aged 52, single, the daughter of William GLENNIE and Ann GLENNIE  MS  BOOTH, the informant her brother John.

Willie,
Thanks, that brilliant - your info has ruled out this lady.

The OPR entry reads "Born to John Pirie, had farm at Birse, and Margaret Glennie. 'John Pirie a married man sometime residing at Tourmill (or Fourmill), Premnay and Margaret Glennie, daughter of Robert Glennie. Matriach had a natural child at Cairnmore Parich of Auchindoir on 7th day of July 1845 - Ann' ".

I can't find John, nor Robert, and the right Margaret is out there somewhere.

So far I have found 3 children to MG
William Taylor 21/11/1839 Clatt by Alexander Taylor.
Ann Pirie           7/7/1845 Auchindoir, Clatt by John Pirie.  **
Isabella Cobb  20/9/1849 Clatt by Alexander Cobb.

I have at least found 1 Robert Glennie who married a Jean Valentine, but nothing to link them.

** Ann married Charles Skene in 19/11/1869 Tarland.

So I will have to think what the next move is.
Again thanks Dad_of3.

Many thanks for the info from the 1851 census for Ann Pirie, this gives me a fix on her that I never had before.
Looks like I will have to check out the Gordon Family.
Regards, Digger88.

Hi...

The Margaret Glennie - mother of William Taylor and Isabella Cobb - was daughter of William Glennie/Ann Booth, as both children were seperately with her and their maternal grandparents in 1841/1851/1861 census @ Clatt....

William - 1841/1851 @ Matnach, Clatt with mother and grandparents
Isabella - 1861 @ Croft, Clatt with mother and grandmother (widow)

Re Anne Pirie.........Isabella Cobb was with possible half-sister Anne Skene nee Pirie in 1871 census @ Tarland - but no relationship was "acknowledged" and the Charles Skene/Anne Pirie marriage (1869 @ Tarland) has her mother as Margaret Glennie, domestic, deceased......which "fits" what is known about the above Margaret Glennie, who died @ Clatt (1863)....., but if her birth recording has mother Margaret as daughter of Robert Glennie.....
