Burials in Tenterden - WOOD
« on: Monday 30 March 09 03:55 BST (UK) »
For a long time I have been trying to find the death of Ellen (Helen) Wood probably in Tenterden.    She was born in  1848 in Knighton, Rad.    She is listed in the 1901 census for Tenterden, but was not at her daughters' double wedding in 1902 and was, I believe, dead.    I cannot find her in BMD or anywhere else.    Her husband, John, died in 1896 in Tenterden and he had been a Methodist preacher, so possibly they were buried at the Methodist church.    I would appreciate any ideas on how to find her death/burial.
Thanks
Pauline

Pauline, Welcome to rootschat.

That Ellen was not present at te wedding would seem to suggest she was dead or very ill. She would have been 54 in 1902.

Have you checked to see if there is still a Methodist church in Tenterden?  Is so, why not write to the minister or parish clerk and ask if they are buried there or if there are records of them?

The Methodist church may now be part of a united or Uniting church in the town so explore those avenues also.

Let us know how you get on,

charlotte
