There is no birth registration for a Lily Tidswell in Birkenhead which is in Cheshire.  Where did you get the information about her birthplace from

If you check the free 1901 index and also the free 1911 index - there is no Lily Tidswell with that profile

If you have a copy of the marriage cert - what was her fathers name and occupation and how old was she when she married

Maybe the reason her birth can't be found on freebmd is that her name was really Elizabeth and that's what you might need to search for- at least to eliminate that as a possibilty-. 

I have had that problem and solved it when I used Eliz. instead of Lily.
