The adopted son Albert Spencer is interesting, I hadn't got that far.  John & Alfred's brother is in Otley in 1901 with wife Mary and family. I haven't looked to see if anyone else is with them or near them - so another job to add to the list.

John and Hannah are indexed as Paine in the 1881 - an obvious misspelling I should had checked sooner, but I found it by searching first names.
(The 81 census is the only one I don't have images for to say whether it is miswritten, badly written, poor quality or mis transcribed by the LDS, whichever way there are a lot of errors apart from the surname in it. )

John at Marton Street I had finally sorted once I found he had changed his job, lost his first wife, married again another wife of the same name and raised a whole new family.

Yes please, an image would be lovely. I never did buy the 81 because I had the LDS discs, which whilst very useful do have their limitations.

I have most of the early work done, I was fortunate to have a cousin who had been at it longer than I and who seemed to always manage to crack the problems first and help me out when I met dead ends. Having gone back along the main line to the 1700's I decided this time to try and fill out the the tree with families and try to work out how they came to be where they were. I have many a long list of people I came across while tracing backwards and now I am trying to find where they fit in (and if they do). The Skipton bunch I was aware of, but only as a stopping point. It has been quite satisfying having all the names to start with and then putting them in place, rather than searching for one person in a crowd (or empty space).

I will try to put a list together of all the records I have and let you know where the gaps are
