Look up please - McGrath
« on: Thursday 02 April 09 04:58 BST (UK) »
Hi

I would be grateful if anyone could help me try and find some ancestors - I hope I am in the correct area of the board.

I am after information on Patrick McGrath and his wife Mary

What I know so far -

nothing but their name.
Daughter Catherine born approx 1834 in Carrigatahor, Tipperary, Ireland
Catherine married John Mitchell 1855 in Victoria australia
John Mitchell was born Jersey,Chanel Islands  approx 1827 and his fathers name may have been Alexander - don't know any other information about him either.

Do I get information re John Mitchell's birth and parents through this board or do I write a seperate request?

I really appreciate getting the help we get from these boards.  All the volunteers and helpers are wonderful, kind people who probably don't get enough thank you messages.  So THANK YOU - we really appreciate it!

Kerryn Keys (Canberra Australia)

'Daughter Catherine born approx 1834 in Carrigatahor, Tipperary, Ireland'

Carrigatoher is in the parish of Nenagh. If you click the link I posted it brings you to a map of the place so you can zoom in or out and see where it is.
 Regards.

Hi Kerryn

My name is Matthew McGrath, and have GGG grandparents from Tipperary, Ireland named Patrick and Mary.
I wonder if they could be the same as yours?

My GG grandfather was born to the above in Nenagh parish, 1834. Perhaps your Catherine was his sister.
He came to Australia, and was married in East Ballarat 1867 to Honora Hogan.
Their children include Catherine, Patrick, Dennis, Michael, Matthew, Jeremiah, John, James, William, Mary)
On his maariage certificate, his mothers maiden name was Donnelly (Connelan?)

Cheers
Matt
