 :-\Hi there,  Lookup please on the marriage of Rachel Elliot brn 1836.  I have no more inform. about her.  Her parents names were Alexander Elliot brn. 1809-1995  mar.C1834/6  to Mary Tait 1812-1897. Hope this enough inform. I,m wishing for good luck.  Cheeers,  Trish.

Hi Trish,

Do you have any idea what part of Roxburghshire she was born?  I have found a possible census record in 1841 for her in Hawick here (http://www.maxwellancestry.com/census/41transcript.aspx?houseid=78902087), so maybe a search around the Hawick area for a marriage.  If she married in 1855 or after (which is likely given the year she was born) you will be able to do this at the Scotland's People website.

Hi

I've found her death in 1906, aged 69, in Hawick (usual residence - 6 Royal Park Place, Edinburgh). She is down as the widow of James Murray, a Tweed Finisher.

Informant was an S (?) Murray, stepson, present at death.

You should be able to find a marriage for them on SP:

Hi Clare.  Hip, hip.   Since my plea on the forum I have found Rachel was brn  Hawick Nov.1836.  So census 1841 sounds good. I take it I follow the  Maxwell etc. just as you have typed it and then on to Scotlands etc., I feel really happy about this , think I'm on the move again.   Heaps of thanks .  Trish

Trish has asked me to look for Rachel  Elliot on the 1861.

Could anyone do this, please as I'm on my travels. 

In 1851 she is at home with her parents,  Alexander and Mary, at High St., Hawick. 

Rachel married James Murray in 1876, Wilton, Roxburghshire, so she'd still be under her maiden name.
