Hi Elaine,
I don't want you to be out of pocket on my behalf, unless I can return the favour by doing a lookup for you on SP.
I cant say for sure that the 12 year old Samuel Craig is one of mine, I found the entry on the Watt Library BMD site, the lad drowned, I looked up the death entry on SP, young Samuel was the illegitimate son of Margaret Scriminger, Belville Street Greenock, Bellville Street is where I have found a lot of my relations.
The Greenock Telegraph item on his death lists his father as Samuel, The Watt Library supplied the information that the Lair proprietor was Samuel Craig.
In 1898 when the lad drowned, his mother had married James McCallum, the stepfather is the informant on Samuel's death entry. No sign of Samuel senior.
I was thinking it would be unusual to only have one buriel in the Lair, and am hoping other buriels will give me the information of in particular Samuel Sr.
As I have previous said, all of the Samuel's I have previouse located have the middle name
Gibson, I have all of their birth year, and at least half of the deaths.
