Pencarreg 1861 lookup please
« on: Sunday 05 April 09 19:12 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I don't seem to have the 1861 and wondered if SKS wouldn't mind doing a look up for me.
This is the family on the 1851 census if it helps, I presume they may have been at the same place if not nearby.

Castell Coch, Pencarreg
Thomas Davies, 60, ag.lab
Margaret Davies, wife, 60
David Davies, 35, ag. lab
Thomas Davies, 12
Margaret Davies, 10
David Davies 7,
Benjamin Davies, 9 months
All were born in county, I know father Thomas was born Pencarreg and Mother Margaret born Llanybydder, if that helps.

Thank you

Regards

Somehow I doubt Thomas and Margaret were the parents of the children, but maybe David was.  I can't find them from the information you've given for 1851, perhaps you could give the references please and that might help.

Are you sure the information you gave wasn't from the 1841 census as there is a household with exactly the same names and ages you gave on there, the older couple have a / after their entries meaning that the others are in a separate part of the household.

In 1851 there is a possible Benjamin ...
Rhydowenifsa, Pencarreg, Carmarthenshire
Griffith Evans Head M 63 Hat Maker Cardigan Llanwenog
Anne Wife M 59 Carmarthen Pencarreg
Benjamin Davies Grandson 10 " "
(Benjamin's age could possibly be 6 or 10)

Is it possible that the children could have been born in Cayo?

1851 Belindre Ucha, Pencarreg, Carmarthenshire
Jonathan Davies Head M 40 Farmer of 115 Acres employing 2 Labourers Cardigan Lampeter
Eliza Wife M 38 Farmer's Wife Carmarthen Cayo
David Davies Servant U 17 Farm Labourer " "
John Davies Servant U 16 " " Cardigan Cellan
Benjamin Davies Servant U 13 Sheepard Carmarthen Cayo
Ann Davies Serv U 19 House Servant Carmarthen Cayo
Martha Servant U 15 House Servant " Pencareg
HO107; Piece: 2483; Folio: 100; Page: 22

I know there are plenty more Davies's but it wouldn't appear that the younger ones are the children of Jonathan and Eliza, but possibly related somehow.

I am so sorry to everyone if I posted wrong! Duh! I'm having a senile moment.

What I gave was the 1841 census details, and I'm after 1851.

Apologies, forgive me!

Regards

P.S. I'm also looking for the son, Benjamin Davies on the 1841 who would've been around 18/19/20
having been born circa 1822/23.
