Thank you all for your help. So, to sum up:

William Stones

bapt: Jan 1st 1827

Belton In Axholme

Father: Thomas Stones

Mother Elizabeth

Then we have the Marriage of John and Elizabeth:

Thomas Stones & Elizabeth Popplewill

24th Dec 1823

Amcotts, Lincolnshire

Then there is Thomas' baptism record:

Thomas Stones

bapt: 28th Nov 1796

Belton In Axholme

Father: Robert Stones

Mother: Anne

Then there is the marriage:

Robert Stones & Ann Popplewell

2nd Feb 1775

Amcotts, Lincolnshire

Now, after all of your help, I did a little looking, and does this record seem feasable for birth of Robert Stones?

01 APR 1752   Belton In Axholme, Lincolnshire

Father: Richrd Stones
Mother: Susanna

He would have been about the right age for the marriage, and he was born in the same place as his son and grandson. What do you all think?

If you haven't already done so have a look on http://www.freereg.org.uk/, there are quite a few Stones burials and baptisms listed for Belton in Axholme.

Incidentally, I've got Popplewell ancestry just outside the Isle of Axholme area:

Robert Popplewell c.1765 Fockerby s/o John and Mary Popplewell

Roberts children were Elizabeth c.1791 and Jane c.1799, both Adlingfleet.

(Just in case there is a connection  ;))
