1851/1861 census look-up - LEGG - COMPLETED

I would appreciate a look-up for Tobias Legg and family in the 1851 census in the Portsmouth area
His wife is Elizabeth

Tobias was b c1812 in the Scilly Isles, he is a master mariner or shipwright

He may still be there in 1861

Any info would be much appreciated

Thanks for the census look-ups

The 1851 is the one I was looking for but I was also wondering if that same Tobias is still in Portsea
in 1861

I guess I didn't make it clear that there are 2 Tobiases b 1811/1812 in Scilly Isles (there is also another one b 1810 but he's a farmer)

The one you found in 1861 back in the Scilly's is the other Tobias
One is a shipwright and the other a master mariner
Both are married to Elizabeth's which makes it more confusing
The master mariner married Elizabeth Davis in 1841 but after the census and I can't find him in 1841
Have no marriage for the other one but it must be around 1837/8

I have followed the master mariner one through to 1881 and his family did not leave Cornwall though he was at sea on a couple of censuses
He had a William and Edmond
The shipwright had Samuel and Christiana - she later married about 1865 in Portsmouth I believe

That's all I have that I can think of to help

Thank you very much for all the census and other data
At least it sorts out the two Tobiases but it poses a few questions - and has now become an interesting scenario!

The marriage of Christian to Thomas Humby in 1860 I did not know about
 
The one I had was to William Sivewright in Dec Qtr 1865 in Portsea and rechecking the references it is probably the same Christian (uncommon middle name Walter after her grandfather) she is listed as Christian Walter Legg so she either divorced Thomas or he died and she chose to carry on using her maiden name
In 1881 she is widowed with 3 children and back home with her parents in the Scilly Isles!!!

This certainly gives me plenty of info to sort out

There is a death Q3. 1862 Portsea for a Thomas Smith Humby 

I was a bit curious as to who Grandson Thomas George belonged to 

Christian would have been only 14 when he was born, and Samuel didn't marry until 1859
