DAVEY, St Neot
« on: Tuesday 07 April 09 14:19 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

My G G G Grandfather was Peter Davey, born c1823 in St Neot.
Had a brother Joseph according the the 1841 census.
He was born c1815 also in St Neot.
In the 1841 and 1851 Census, Peter is living with a Hawken family, and later goes onto marry there daughter Mary Hawken where he is on the 1861 and 1871...by 1881 he is back with is Mother in Law and wife is deceased.
I am having trouble finding Peters parents.
Have located what could be his birth record, but I can't find one for Joseph to say it is definately them.
According to the IGI his parents are Peter and Mary Ann.
Have found what I hope is his parents Marriage, in 1807.
Mother was Mary Ann Rundle.
I have located children, but this is where the confusion starts.
Some of the children to a Peter and Mary Ann are given Rundle Davey double barrelled surnames...some not...and I am unsure how to progress with it further and link Peter to those Parents as a definite!

Can anyone please help,

Thanks

Colleen

FreeCen for 1841 gives Joseph as Dony and not Davey.

There is a Joseph Doney baptised 1821 in St Neot.

7th Dec 1807 Peter Davey marries Mary Ann Rundle at St Neot.

1808 - John Rundle
1810 - Mary Ann
1811 - Eleanor Rundle
1813 - Brice
1815 - Jonathan Rundle
1820 - Peter
1823 - Peter

That they only baptised some with the Rundle middle name is not significant. I have seen lots of cases the same.

Mary Ann seems to have wed in 1831 to a Joshua Doney and in 1832 they had Peter Davey Doney.

In 1841 Peter and Mary Ann are in St Neot with John and Jonathan living at home.

Sorry Fizzy, I was dashing around (burnt my chicken for the curry too!), didn't look properly at the names.
That clears up a confusion for me, because I was unsure whether it was an error with the Birth dates....so sad though to lose one at 2...
