Thanks for the lovely efforts so far. I really appreciate everyone's time!
There is a story that goes with this photo. Granny was in hospital at the time it was taken and she died shortly after. This was the very last photo taken of her. She was quite ill, but sat for this photo with a coat or a blanket around her so that the hospital guernsey wasn't showing.
She was my mother's favourite Granny and I have heard many many fond stories of her throughout the years. My Mum was only 13 when she died, but when she had married managed to get a copy of this photo and had it coloured and restored, and the restorer put a shirt on Granny instead of the blanket (it would be lovely to have it redone like that!). Granny had a cancer at the side of her nose (you can see someone has hidden it with a faint teardrop shadow of it on our left if you look).
When we immigrated to Australia my Mum left most of her possessions in the care of my own Granny, her mother in law, who promised to send them on. She never did
(my Gran was a rather thoughtless woman at times). So my Mum never saw her copy of the photo again. It is the only possession my Mum regretted leaving behind but there just wasn't room to bring it.
So this is why I want my Mum to have this photo again....
