Is anybody researching Goldingham in Suffolk in the 1600s please? 

There is a reference on Boyds to a Suffolk Archdeaconry Marriage Licence from 1634 for Sarah Goldingham and Thomas Bridge.  I'm interested in finding out if it says where Thomas Bridge was from.

OK I know I can get a copy from Ipswich RO but that takes a bit of time, just wondering if anyone knows anything about this family.  I'm looking for the marriage of a Thomas and Sarah Bridge around 1633/4.

The Henry Goldingham who stood surety was Sarah's father, son of Jonas Goldingham.

Hi thanks for the reply.  Yes I'd found that out several years ago and why I agree that Henry Goldingham probably is Jonas' son of that name, there isn't any absolute definate proof of this, just a lot of coincidences suggesting it.

More than just coincidences, I suggest.  The Will of Jonas Goldingham (1615) names his son Henry and Henry's daughters Ann, Abigail, Frances, Marie and Sarah, and his (Henry's) son, also named Henry.  Henry also had another son, Jonas, born after 1615 and thus not mentioned in Jonas senior's Will.  It is of course possible that it was Henry junior, Frances's brother, not Henry senior who stood surety.

Well you're one up on me, I wasn't aware of another Jonas which has now got me intrigued.

I say coincidences because the baptisms of Henry's children are missing, probably in Ramsey during the period when the registers are missing, and with Henry not leaving a Will there's no real concrete proof from the point of view of who survived, his children are confirmed by his father's Will.  However, there is sufficient evidence found in other documents to connect Sarah, Frances and Abigail and confirm that Sarah is, on the balance of probabilities, Henry's daughter and Jonas' granddaughter.
