Stephen Leatham of Ellismere 1826
« on: Tuesday 14 April 09 17:46 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

Looking for help and advice on tracing some records. This is the 1st time I've had to trace records in England and I have no idea where to look. My GGGrandfather Stephen Leatham (Letham) is listed in the 1851 Scotland Census as a soldier in the 1st Royals based in Aberdeen in Scotland. The census notes him as being 24 and a weaver birthplace Ellismere Shropshire.
He married in Aberdeen then appears to have travelled to Wales & England with the army before dying in 1859.
Any advice on my best website to use of office to contact? Anything would be appreciaited.

Carole,

Yeah I did the census record wasn't my Stephen Leatham.
The Army records show his son born in Monmouth Wales but that was as much info as i got from them. So its back to square one for me.

If going by naming traditions helps he named his 1st son Stephen, second William and third John (Father in law was John).
