Would somebody kindly search the 1891 census, Devon, for:

Aaron POPE born 1841 in Exeter, living in Exeter, residing with his wife Mary/May born 1845 in Exeter, and their children.

Just had a look and the only Aaron Pope b Exeter is 15 yrs old, not 50ish.
Any other details to help?

Hi Ryan,

  I could find only 2 'Aaron Pope' in the 1891, none of which is yours. One of them is Aaron George and was born in Exeter, but he's only 15 and an inmate in a boy's home in Ratcliff/London.

Are you sure Aaron was alive at the time?

Okay, thanks for that ladies Aaron George Pope is the elder Aaron's son born 1876. The elder Aaron Pope and his wife Mary (or May?) also had Elizabeth Florence born 1870 and John born 1875, both in Exeter. I will look into the possibility that the elder Aaron died prior to the census.

Ah yes, Aaron Pope passed away 1881 in Exeter. Is his widow Mary (May?) Pope (nee Sparks), born 1845 in Exeter still living in the city?

can't find a Mary or May Pope in Exeter on 1891, or one born Exeter any where.
Would she be likely to have had other children with her which may help?

Hi again Anne.
The only children I know of that Aaron and Mary had were Elizabeth Florence, John and Aaron George. They may have had more children, but that is why I originally asked for this lookup to see if Aaron had any more besides the three I already knew about. However, I believe Mary may have died shortly after Aaron had, in 1883 at the age of 39, which is consistant with her age given on the 1881 census. No worries.
