Self Actor Minder
« on: Friday 17 April 09 12:31 BST (UK) »
Hi there, has anybody heard of this job title before - Self Actor Minder? Several of my ancesters seem to have it as there occupation in both the 1891 and 1901 census returns. All those with this occupation are male and i was wondering if it may be some form of bodygaurd. Somebody suggested it may be the name for some role within a mill. Does anybody know? Many thanks,
Luke

Thank you this. I have just come across an ancestor with the the same job and I'd never heard of it before although loads of my family worked in the cotton industry.
