There is only one Thomas Farr born in Bathgate in 1914. You will find his birth cert on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

If you are not already a member you will have to join. It will cost you £6. However this will give you 5 certificates, if you search carefully. For example, if his parents were married, their marriage date will be on his birth cert and you could then download that too.

If there is a marriage cert it will show the names of the bride and groom's parents.

Best wishes
Jean

Hi, Jean & John.

Unfortunately, ScotlandsPeople will not provide an image because the birth is less than 100 years old, there being a cut-off point at 1907 for images of births.

I did some research on the Beatties and Ronalds in Bathgate a number of years ago and the only Farr family in Bathgate was connected to the Ronalds.  James Farr married Mary Ronalds and I suspect Thomas Francis was James' great-grandson.  If my memory serves me correctly I think the only Farr getting married in Bathgate between 1900 and 1920 was Robert Anthony Farr, the illegitimate son of Elizabeth.   He married Mary Lackie and I think Thomas was their second son.

Anyhow, I'm going to Edinburgh on Tuesday and if you can wait until then I'll get you a definite answer - albeit in transcript rather than a copy certificate.

Will that suit?

Regards,

mr-aitch

Ooops Apologies

I'd forgotten about the 100 year rule on births!

Okay, I'll look up the birth on Tuesday.

David Beattey is the brother-in-law of who?  I have access to both Ancestry and the LDS 1881 censuses and neither records him in the Farr, Beattie or Ronald households.

Regards,

mr-aitch

Hi,
In my LDS 1881 it lists
JAMES FARR  age 52
ELIZA  FARR  age 50
GEORGE FARR  age 16
JAMES FARR  age 13
JOHN FARR age 10
DAVID BEATTEY  age 27

They lived at No 1 Pottery Yard
Heworth, Durham
FHL Film 1342212     Pro Ref RG11     Piece  5031    Folio 85     Page 35

They must have moved  to england
I presume DAVID was James brother in law.
