Thanks again for the Archive newspaper web- site i was rewarded with two sections one in the Belfast newsletter and the other in The Illustrated police news.

It sounds like a sorry affair with six people involved and a very sad end.

Is it possible to search Archive police records is there a time lock on such records?.
I have tried to access the local paper (Christchurch times) for a on-line archive but to no avail but i believe they may be on veiw at the local library.

Regards
Neil.

Hi,

The address that Charles William Kendall was living at in the 1881 census in Southampton is actually called 51 Bevois Street-just down the road from me.
If you need any information about the Southampton area the Archive section at the Southampton City Council are always very helpful.
Regards.

Hi Paco,

Thanks for the tip. I updated my older post to reflect some of the bits and pieces I've since uncovered. Apart from his appearance in the 1891 census, I think I've tracked down Charles's movements through all the children he left behind.

I ended up buying the GRO records of the births of all his ten children. He used "Charles William" and "William Charles" interchangeably.

I'd like to know what became of Annie Manston and Janet Kendall, but I've run out of clues.

Regards,
David

Hi David

Just found the message you sent me last year regarding Florence Kendall born in Neacroft.  Yes, that was my grandmother so we ARE distant cousins.  ;D

Don't seem to be able to reply to you directly though.

Sarah

I believe I may have given some information previously regarding some of the Kendall family, and I am related by marriage to Annie Julia Kendall, born 25/06/1898. She married my grandfather in about 1936 , possibly at Poole or Bournemouth. I know she was born at Crow Cottages , near Ringwood. I remember two of her brothers, Walter and Bob ( as he was known). Walter was married to Lily ( maiden name unknown ), and Bob was married to May ( maiden name unknown ). Obviously Bob was a nickname, but I have no idea of his birth name. I do not know if Bob and May had any children, although I doubt it. Walt and Lily had a daughter. The oldest brother was called Albert and he unfortunately went down with HMS Hampshire ( Lord Kitcheners' ship ) on 5/6/1916 . Annie Julia and my grandfather had no further children.
