There is no one OPC covering Devon (that would be too big a task for any one volunteer)- there are OPCs for some of the Devon parishes, your best place to look is at
 http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/OPCproject.html.

of the two web sites you quote- the geocities one is for an OPC that covers parts of East Devon. the Online parish clerk web site only lists the co-ordinator for Devon (did you remove the spam guard part of the e-mail address?)

Hooper- Torquay & Exbourne
Stevenson- Plymouth & Lincolnshire
Vivian- Cornwood & London

General Torquay local history- OPC for Torquay

The Devon parish I require help with relates to the website ( http://www.geocities.com/opcdevon/ ), but emails are returned.  I then contacted  the co-ordinator of the Devon Online Parish Clerk scheme to establish who the OPC for that parish is, but their emails were also returned ( spam guard was removed ).

So both the OPC that relates to the parish Im interested in and the co-ordinator of the Devon project are both unobtainable.

Hello,
I am the co-ordinator for the OPC project - Deborah O'Brien. I am receiving e-mails by the dozen, so there may be a problem with your ISP not being accepted by mine. Please re-try e-mailing me (with the spamguard removed) and make sure that your message contains no HTML - that shouldn't be the problem, but it may be. Alternativley, please place your request on this board and I'll answer you here. We have over 85 OPCs covering some 190 of the ancient 500 parishes.
As for Deborah Carmichael, former OPC for the parishes on the Dorset border, - she has not been available for over a year and her contact details have been removed from the Genuki/Devon OPC main page. Her website is still up and running, but unfortunately, we have no way of shutting that down - it was her website.

Sorry for the late reply, but I've been double checking all the headers on the emails returned, I sent the emails ( text only )to your email address via several servers ( including my own ), so there should be no issue with ISP servers rejecting the email.

However, I will send you another couple of test emails and see if these get through.

Bring back smoke signals and bottles  :)

On a wider issue, is there anything that we can do to put the OPCs on a firmer basis, I see that the Lincolnshire OPC was closed down some time ago?

The Devon OPC project couldn't be stronger. We operate under the auspices of GenUKI Devon, and all pertinent information is housed on the University of Newcastle server. We do of course, lose individual OPCs from time to time - either the passage of life or personal commitments.
Devon is limited in that the PRs are not freely available, - our OPCs actually purchase the fiche of the original registers themselves, and make the appropriate transcriptions. Publication of these is severely restricted - we may not do so without express written consent from the incumbent minister for the parish, and this is not always given. (None of my own specific parish incumbents will grant a release for instance).
If permission is granted, the transcriptions are then housed on the GenUKI Devon webpage for the relevant Parish.

I've now received 2 of Dave's test e-mails. Cannot imagine what the problem was.
