1871 Census please OGDEN Please
« on: Wednesday 29 April 09 18:23 BST (UK) »
Would some kind person be able to find this family together in the 1871 Census for me please?

Sarah Lizzie OGDEN, married George Watson GRAYDON my great Uncle at St Pauls Church Deaf Hill in May 1901.  Her birth Certificate of 21 Aug 1878 Haltwhistle gives her mother as Elizabeth OGDEN Domestic Servant.

There is in 1881 Durham Census an Elizabeth OGDEN Widow aged 59, Sons
Abraham 29 bn Haltwhistle.  William 15 Knarsdale Sarah L bn Lambley Northumberland aged 2 grand daughter  I would like to know who her husband was please?

James OGDEN 32 bn Haltwhistle wife Margaret 23 bn Haltwhiste with son James 2 bn Lambley, in the same row as Elizabeth OGDEN.

An Elizabeth OGDEN aged 24 is with a family in Cumberland bn Knarsdale Cumberland.  They were John and Elizabeth GRAHAM.  This looks as though she might be the mother of Sarah Lizzie.

Thank you so much for your help with this family, of OGDEN.  You have been very kind towards me.  I am over the moon!

It is wonderful to now have LEIGHTON surname too.

I also have the Leighton/Ogden connection in my tree, through the Leighton branch.

Elizabeth Leighton married James Ogden 14 January 1849 at Haltwhistle, Northumberland.  Her parents were Matthew Leighton & Sarah Hutchinson.

Elizabeth's sister Sarah was my 3xgreat grandmother.

I do not have the 1841 Census information but find it strange that a previous post has an Elizabeth living with a William & Sarah Leighton (possibly two Elizabeth Leightons?).  I would be very grateful if anyone could check the 1841 Census for me.

1841 census does not give relationships
there is an Elizabeth with William and SAarah leighton in Haltwhistle

there are Elizabeth s of abt correct age in Hartly, Rothbury and St Nicholas

None are with Matthew and Sarah

The only Matthew I could find in Northumberland of an age to be Elizabeth's father is this one

1841
Haltwhistle
Northumberland
Matthew Leighton 70 Road lab
Sarah 10
both born in county

Thank you very much for the census information Suz.  The ages are right for my Matthew & Sarah.  My information gives Matthew's wife Sarah (Hutchinson) as dying in Haltwhistle in 1878.  Do you know if there was also a Sarah in the 1841 census, I believe she was born c. 1786 in Allendale?
