barrister at law
« on: Sunday 20 February 05 19:08 GMT (UK) »
The only info I have about one of my ancestors is from his son`s marriage certificate of 1848.
Father`s name John STEER, profession Barrister at Law. The groom`s residence was Islington so I guess his father probably lived there too.
I would like to find out more but I don`t know where he studied or which Inn he was addmitted to practise through etc...
Help - I don`t know where to start! Can anybody suggest a direction please?

TRY THE 1842  (LONDON) POST OFFICE DIRECTORY .    MOST PROFESSIONALS ARE LISTED THERE.
