Earls Barton 1851/1861/1871.

Hi,

I am trying to trace the Weed's of Earls Barton, Northants.  I have found some on the 1881 census and am hoping to link them to my great great great granddad Elijah Weed.  He was born in 1847 in Earls Barton.  On the 1881 census I located  William (b 1838), James (b 1849), Enos (b 1848), Frederick (b 1855), Mary Ann (b 1857) and Jabes (b 1859) all born in Earls Barton.  Also there was a Thomas (b 1818) and Mary Weed (b 1815).  Please could someone check to see if they were related to Elijah in anyway.

Hi Sandy,

Sorry to bother you again but would it be possible to look at the records again and check the date of Elijah's birth.  I believe my Elijah was born in 1847 (according to the 1881 ans 1901 census), but the info you refer to states he was born in 1844.  Could this still be the same person or is there another Elijah Weed born in Earls Barton in 1847?    I can only find one Elijah Weed (b 1845) on the 1871 census at Earls Barton, but he was married to Elizabeth (b 1848) and they had two girls, Sarah (b 1866) and Ammie (b 1869).  I believe my Elijah was married to Mary Ann (b1842, d 1874) (I'm awaiting their marriage certificate to confirm this.) who had two girls also, Anne (b 1869) and Kate (b 1872)  Would it be at all possible that Elijah gave the wrong age on the census', could Sarah have died and maybe Anne and Ammie mistranscribed?  I'm am sooooo confused its unreal!  There can't be that many Elijah Weed's from Earls Barton surely?!
My Elijah Weed and children were living at 130 Market St, Northampton St Giles, Northampton at the time of the 1881 census. If thats any help in narrowing down a search.

People weren't always that accurate (or truthful) with their ages - I have some that have only aged 6 years with each census

Sorry not to have replied earlier but I am not able to look at the Parish records for Earls barton at the moment as I am helping a friend decorate her house.

I have found Thomas (Father) on the 1891 and his son James brother of Elijah.

I have been told that the copyright has been waived by the Crown for census images but do not wish to insert in case someone knows different to the Record Offfice/Library.

Once again sorry for not responding sooner.

I looked at the Baptisms for Earls Barton Parish Church and your Weed's have not baptised there.

Here is the info from the 1861 Census which should show that Elijah is yours.

The other info was from the 1851 Census.
