All Saints Church, Long Whatton, Leics.
« on: Sunday 03 May 09 16:48 BST (UK) »
Does anyone live in or near to Long Whatton in Leicestershire who could possibly help me please?
I have an ancestor named Gertrude Jones who was buried in the graveyard at All Saints Church, Long Whatton in 1957 and I would dearly like to obtain a photo of her grave.
If anyone is able to take a photograph on my behalf and send it to me I would be very grateful.
The headstone reads :-
A Tribute Of Love To A Devoted Wife & Mother
Gertrude Jones (nee Lester)
who passed away 13th February 1957
In Thy Presence Is Fullness Of Joy

With many thanks,
Treefan.

treefan, I have been to the church this morning. unfortunately i can't find the grave. it isn't a particularly large graveyard - it only took me 15 mins to look at all the graves. it seems very well kept although there  are a few headstones lying down - mainly older ones i think. there are recent burials so no reason why 1957 shouldn't be there. did wonder whether she might be in loughborough All Saints (parish Church) or even the cemetery at loughborough.

where did the info about the stone come from? I did go inside the church as it was unlocked but noone was there. i will happily chase this up if you are sure it is long Whatton. the church may keep a list of stones, but pretty sure i didn't miss it.

however i did take some nice pics of the church in and out. sending by email.
