« on: Monday 04 May 09 08:25 BST (UK) »
::) i need help please
on the 1851 census i have a relative being born 1841 in Yerigahl Ireland her name Elizabeth Warman, I've tried to find her to get a copy of her birth certificate but am having no luck.all i get is no such county or no such person.
what i do now is that her father Robert was in 70th foot regiment if that helps at all but have no idea where on Ireland his regiment was stationed
Elizabeth's brother Thomas was born in Manchester  1846.
there must be a record of her birth some where or even a baptism record.
would be grateful for any help.
Elizabeth died in 1858  in Ingrave Essex.
thank you dog house

Hi,
I have found a Thomas Warman born 1845 in Methodist??, Newry Co. Down whose father was Robert Warman and mother was Charlotte. Source is extracted information in the IGI. There is no record of Elizabeth.
Could be a coincidence but WARMAN is a fairly unusual name.

First of all, civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so there will be no birth certificate availale and to find church records you need to know where her family was living in Ireland.
'Yerigahl' looks a bit like Youghal which is in Co. Cork.

You could also try the UK National Archives, as you know the father's name and regiment, its possible to look up the muster rolls to confirm where he was posted and see what other information it has on him.

It might not help but brsgenealogy has 2 Warman baptisms in Co Limerick, much later (1886/1891) but it might help to narrow down location.

It also has 2 marriages
Warman Martha 1748 Co. Kilkenny
Warman Robert 1876 Co. Limerick *** I thought this one was interesting, possible brother/cousin to Elizabeth

I agree with  aghadowey,  Youghal, Co Cork was my first thought of location too.

Hi,
Considering pronounciation the term YERIGAHL may be poor spelling for the parish of ERRIGAL in Co. Londonderry. Also noticed that in the 1851 census Robert Warman was living in Ingrave Essex with wife Charlotte. For Service Documents TNA ref. WO 97/829/72

Hi,

Errigal in Co. Londonderry is most unlikely in view of father's military connection.

If you put just 'Warman' and 'Ireland' into LDS search page (www.familysearch.org) a few entries for Cork come up as well as some for Limerick and other parts of Ireland.

Searching for the same (Warman) in index to Irish civil registration has the following results:
Co. Clare = 16, Co. Cork = 19, Co. Dublin = 1, Co. Limerick = 16, unspecified = 12
