Wadhurst - household 1911
« on: Thursday 07 May 09 13:40 BST (UK) »
I'm having diffculty with the 1911 census.

I have my relative living at 'Horsley, Wadhurst, Sussex' in 1911. I have looked at the returns and it says there are 16 rooms where she and 2 others are living as servants.  However, I can't find the rest of the household! It was signed by Martha Warr ('Ware' on census), the parlourmaid.

When I've searched the census, it puts a household on one page - but in this case it isn't. What can I do to find out who they were servants to?
If the family were away, how would I find out more?
Any other info about 'Horsley'?

That's what I thought. :) Do you know if there any way to find out who? I can't find the house on the 1901 census.

I know, I keep coming up against the same. It says for address exactly that: Horsley, Wadhurst, Sussex'. Hmmmm.....

I think it's an electoral roll situation...

Thanks!  ;D

ok on Google Books (Proceedings By Geologists' Association)we have Horsley mentioned here:~

The axis of the Ticehurst anticline comes into this area near Horsley, one mile
west of Wadhurst, after which it swings -slightly north and becomes approximately coincident with the conspicuous strike-fault running across the south of the district. Tracing it from west to east in more detail, the northern approach to the Best Beech  Hill Tunnel exhibits in the cutting a good
