Williams / Draper family
« on: Friday 08 May 09 00:39 BST (UK) »
hi - Ive got a bit stuck on my research and was hoping that someone could give me a hand with a look up here.

Ive been doing some research on my great grandfather Frederick Williams born in 1879 in South Hornsey (from the 1911 census). I knew from his marriage certificate that his father was a Frederick Charles Williams but very little more.  ive not been able to locate him in the census records (except 1911 and 1881).
After a few false starts i think ive now located his birth certificate which matches the date/place and lists his parents as Frederick Charles Williams (matching the marriage cert) and Elizabeth Draper. Ive had a good look but again ive not been able to locate them in the census records (except the 1881 census).
To get to the next level ive just recieved the marriage certificate of Frederick and Elizabeth. Married April 1868 in Islington. It lists Fredericks father as Charles Williams (occ. Carpenter) and Elizabeths Father as William Draper (deceased in 1868).

so basically ive got the williams family living in Watson st in 1881 but havent found them before or since.
So im looking for a Frederick Williams (born 1879) son of Frederick Charles Williams (born 1845c) son of Charles Williams (born 1820ish?)
Im also looking for an Elizabeth Draper born 1848c. father William Draper (who was dead by 1868).

Any help would be appreciated - even a good nudge in the right direction!
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike

You don't mention what Frederick Charles' occupation was, it could help find him on the 1871 Census if you know it.

Cheers

hi - sorry i should have put that on the first posting.
On the marriage certificate of Fred williams in 1906 his fathers occupation is listed as 'paper hanger'.  On the birth certificate for Fred Williams junior (b.1879) his fathers occupation is listed as 'Carpenter'. This matches the marriage cetificate for Frederick Charles Williams to Elizabeth Draper (1868) where his Occupation is listed as 'Carpenter'. His father Charles Williams is also listed as a 'Carpenter'.
Im not sure where the musician bit comes in!

Fred Williams Junior (b. 1879) was listed as a 'milk carrier' in 1906 - and i know from my grandmothers birth certificate that he went on to become a coporal in the RAF
