Who are the parents of Charles Richings

I am trying to trace the parents of my ancestor Charles Richings.  According to the 1861 census he was born in Cirencester, Glos. around 1831.  In 1861 he was living in Bradfield, Sheffield with his wife and family.
According to his marriage certificate he was married in 1853 in Sheffield and his father was Edward; this could read Rickings though rather than Richings.

Alfred, son, 9

all born Cirencester

doesn't prove that Charles was their son but it looks likely

From parish transcriptions there is this baptism:-

Charles Ritchings - 17th August 1828 at St John The Baptist, Cirencester
Date of Birth - 6th June 1828
Son of Edward & Sarah of Cirencester
Fathers Occupation - Labourer

Thanks for that.  It could be the same one, but it doesn't explain why he is in the 1841 census as being 13; this would make him born in 1828 not 1831 as his marriage certificate indicates.   In the 1881; 91 and 1901  Charles wife Susannah then appears in Saddleworth, Yorkshire.  There is no mention of Charles at all.  He therefore could have remarried or died.  I have since found an entry for a marriage for a  Charles Richings in Cirencester in 1889.  Could this be my great great grandfather.

Don't know if this helps, but I've found this death on the GLS NBI:

1856  2 May  Eliza  RICHINGS  10 days  Watermoor Cirencester.
looks like  Edwards and Sarah's child.


Have you considered  Charles may have stated his birth 1831  to seem a bit younger?
What was Charles' occupation?  Might explain why he was not in Saddleworth during the census.
