Once again thanks for all the brilliant information! A lot of leads to follow up.
I really need to see the baptism record for Sarah Bohley b. 1795. She is our direct ancestor. The date fits perfectly as she was married to Richard salter in 1814. I have all their childrens births (10 of them!) We know that Peter Bohle was her brother as he was one of the children's sponsor and is noted as " maternal uncle to the infant". I will have to wait until I can get to our state library to use ancestry. Think we need a definite proof of her parentage.
Charles-David's age at death was given as 89, would make him born 1744 if it is exact.
So there are lots of leads to follow and I am very grateful for your help with them.

Fantastic that jorose found the marriage and some proof that he was one of the German mercenary troops in Quebec at the time...also for the Pohle spelling which may yet open more doors...( also a marriage for a Charles Pohley)

Here is a land petition for a Christian Pohle ...

and deaths for surname Pohly incl: wife of Christian who has no forename...argh

also if David's wife went by Mary AND Elizabeth then Mary Elizabeth Bohle's death in 1789 may point to another child...J.J.

Just wanted to let you know that I now have definite proof of David Bohle's marriage and baptism of children from church records. Also confirmation that he was a Jaeger from Hanau, and am trying to pursue his birth details. Thanks for all previous help, I will now try to close off this posting, but not too sure how to do that!
Best wishes, Maggie
