MOGRIDGE from Paignton b. about 1850 COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 13 May 09 07:59 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me locate Mary Jane Mogridge's parents, or any other information about Mary Jane. I have exhausted all other sources that I know of - with no joy. She married Thomas Ford of Sampford Courtney and lived in London from 1891 onwards, giving her place of birth as Paignton.  The 1871 census turns up a Mary Jane Mogridge as a domestic servant in Torquay, but then the trail goes cold.  I would be so grateful for either solutions or suggestions.

You cannot believe how pleased I am with your reply - I have been searching for an answer that makes senses for nearly 5 years, with hours on line, several visits to the GRO, and paid for searches. Then you come up trumps in an hour!! Thanks a million.    :) :) :)

Pleased to help.  ;D

In fairness both census entries are very hard to read.

The marriage is no better. I did finally locate it

MUGGRIDGE Philip = WARRIN Elizabeth Jane Dec 1856 Totnes 5b 307 (The second G in Muggridge is crossed out

Have viewed the originals and that is how the names appear.
He is quite consistent throughout the census with a birth in Paignton but alas I still have not been able to locate him in 1841 or 1851.

Cheers Kris  :)
