History of 1 Derby Road, Wesham, it was the address inmates gave for Fylde Union Workhouse.  As usual Peter Higginbotham's wonderful website has the details

http://www.workhouses.org.uk/index.html?Fylde/Fylde.shtml

I hope this helps

Regards

Simon

Hi,

Have you looked for Broughton Avenue, Layton on 1911 census? It might give you some idea what type of building it was;  house, institution etc.

Broughton Avenue appears to be made of largish terraced houses. No front gardens, yards at the rear with a back street wide enough for a car (I can see one there on Google Earth). From Old Maps, the Avenue was built some time between 1912 and 1932.

Kingscote Park is at the eastern end.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.
