Moville ancestors?
« on: Tuesday 19 May 09 03:07 BST (UK) »
Hi there everyone

Am trying to trace my GATTENS/GATENS ancestors.  I am searching for the birthplace of James GATTENS/GATENS and Marjory MCAULEY/MCAULY whose banns of marriage were published in 1852 in Port-Glasgow  Renfrewshire Scotland . They were Roman Catholic .James was probably born around 1830 and Marjory about 1831.
Marjory's parents were James MCAULEY and Mary Ann HORN?
There is a family story that they may have come from Moville in County Donegal.

Can anyone help?

Thanks    Orkrad.

Here's a fantastic booklet about searching for ancestors in Donegal which might help you to understand what resources are and aren't available:

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
