Areen in Cambridgeshire, anyone?
« on: Tuesday 19 May 09 09:21 BST (UK) »
Hi,
On the 1851 census for Chalfont St Peter, Bucks, my ancestor Susanna Swallow (although it's spelt Swalow on this occasion) has her birth recorded as 'Cambridgeshire Areen'. She was 81 at that time, the widow of Matthew Swallow.
I can find no record of their marriage, or her birth (abt 1769), or even Areen! Can anyone help please?

Nope, or at least I don't think so, I trawled thro' 1200+ records for there, but no Susannah born at that time. I can't even find anywhere likely begining with an 'H'.

Well, this could just be one of life's mysteries.

There was one in 1772 which is pretty close!

Isleham? If the first e should have been an l

But even if you find a Susanna you still need her marriage to prove you have the right one.

Have you checked Boyds Marriage Index which is pretty complete for Cambs?

Or how about Deptford St Nicholas parish register, which doesn't seem to have been extracted onto the IGI
