Another Fenlon of Carlow
« on: Thursday 21 May 09 22:54 BST (UK) »
Hello,

My ggGrandparents, Edward & Mary (Murphy) Fenlon left Ireland & ended up in Hessel, MI, which was known then as Cedar Township, Mackinac County.

According to death records, his mother was Ellen Scott and his father was listed as simply a line in the box (perhaps illigetimate?)  Her father is listed as John Murphy, and her mother is listed as Ellen (? I couldn't read the last name).

Can anybody offer any more information?

Oops!

Typical newbie mistake I guess - Sorry

Edward (ggGrandfather) was born around 1826 and lived until 1920 & Mary was born around 1843 and died in 1916.  I'm not sure of the exact date they came to America.

Unfortunately you'll need to search for church records for family information as civil registration in Ireland didn't start until 1845/1864. It's possible Edward's father wasn't listed on his death certificate because the informant wasn't sure of the father's name.
