Honeypig? ** COMPLETED, thanks! **
« on: Wednesday 27 May 09 20:24 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I just purchased a marriage record of husband's 3rd great grandparents (I believe), Peter McDowall & Margaret Byers.   Maiden name of wife is spelled in a different way than I've seen before (Buyers), but seems to be right time/ general location-- indexed as parish of Old Luce or Glenluce.   The location of marriage on register page is Honeypig.
Does anyone know where this is or if it still exists?     Or where I may find other information, church pic, etc.?
Thanks

Ok, thanks, got it now.  I had tried Google Maps, but neglected to go to Google.UK first!

Hi

Staying in Glenluce next week. Will try to get a photo of Honey Pig for you if you like?

Don't be disappointed if I can't though.

I will come back to you one way or another.

There doesn't appear to be a church on the Ordnance Survey map just three dwellings. I'll let you know what we find out.

Cheers.

Judy

Be warned Judy, the roads around there may be a little on the narrow side!

Ha. Ha. ;D ;D ;D

It's a good job, Kirsty, that the link didn't work before we went. I've got another pic just like that one! OH wasn't too pleased but...... eventually

Well, we found Honeypig and it's a cottage. The couple must have married in their home as I also found whilst researching my family.

I'll PM you kgbroadfoot shortly as we've only just got back, about a couple of hours ago.

Here's a scene which greeted us on our search. We were so entranced with the Aberdeen Angus cattle that we missed Honeypig first time round........and we couldn't turn around.
