Hi Karen.
There is an article about the accident in the Scone Advertiser, Tuesday 28 September, 1954.
This is the gist of what it says:

TWO MEN KILLED IN HIGHWAY COLLISION.  Their car collided with a lorry on Saturday night.   Killed were Edmond Anderson, 62, married, crane driver of 252 Liverpool St Darlinghurst, and Maxwell Mason, 30, single, shunter, Owen's Gap via Scone.  Another man Norman Masters was injured. Anderson was driving and died instantly of severe head injuries.  The lorry driver was not injured.

The three men were travelling to Tamworth for a lodge meeting. An inquest was to be held.

Funeral for both men at Scone from Presbyterian church.  Anderson and Mason were close friends, Anderson was an ex-serviceman of WW1 and WW2, and a New Zealander. Members of Scone Buffalo Lodge acted as pall-bearers as both men were members.

Unfortunately there was no family death notice and no members of his family mentioned at all.  There are short mentions of the accident in The Sydney Morning Herald and  The Daily Telegraph, but no death notices.

So it doesn't help you much!
