John Franklin Bishop b. 1913?
« on: Monday 01 June 09 11:29 BST (UK) »
Can anyone give me any information regarding John Franklin Bishop, born approximately 1913.  His father was John Wark Bishop and was a retired Hotel Proprietor in 1940.
I know John Franklin Bishop travelled to England in September, 1938 and that he was in the RAF.  In 1940 he was stationed at RAF Benson.  I should like to find out if he survived the war and if / when he returned to Canada.
I believe that in 1942 John Wark Bishop's wife was in Victoria BC
I would be grateful for any help.  Is there anywhere to find out information on 2nd World War RAF personnel?

Information on RAF records. WWII service records are still with the MOD:

I can't see John Franklin on the CWGC, although here is info on his brother George, in the RCAF, who died:

BC BMDs:

John Wark Bishop died in Victoria, in 1971, at the lofty age of 98!
His wife, who is listed as "Mary Leila" in George's records, perhaps is the one who passed away in 1973 in Victoria, aged 83.
You might try tracking down an obituary for either John or Mary, to see what it says about their children/grandchildren.

If John Franklin Bishop was in the RCAF rather than the RAF, here's a link to the Library and Archives Canada webpage regarding WWII military files:
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/022-909.007-e.html

There are no restrictions on ordering files for those who died in service so if you wanted to order George's file, here's a link where that can be done:
