Overty - or O'Verty

Would anyone know if this is a common name in Ireland - or if there is any particular area that the Overtys may have lived?

There's a single Overty entry on Griffiths Valuation (c1850s), a Mary Overty owner of a 'House in Ruins' at Camus Rd, Tipperary SR

Looking at the English censuses, of the Irish born Overty- one gives Cavan and one gives Galway.
Otherwise Family Search has none but Family Search Pilot is having maintenance.
There is an Irish surname Laverty/ Lafferty but I realise it is not the same  :-\

Many thanks for the responses - I think for now they'll have to be filed under 'info that may come in useful sometime'!

Yes probably best - when the Family Search comes back later there may be something on there.
Surely all these, I know there weren't many, who said they were Overty from Ireland couldn't be mistranscribed or even worse lying  ::)

hi,
the pilot site is up and running normally again, touch wood, but there is no sign of any overty's. the only mentions are those, like heywood said, who are found in a
census in england/wales or the states who give their birthplace as ireland.the names from the states are all in connecticut.
