James Guy x 2
« on: Wednesday 03 June 09 15:58 BST (UK) »
I've come across two gentlemen, father and son, both named James Guy.  The elder, born about 1695, was Vicar of Little Coates St Michael until his death in 1763.  His son, born 1719 in Irby, was Curate of Bradley St George.  Is anyone else researching these two and their families?  They are 6x great and 5 x great grandfathers of my wife.

Hello Diddy,

I've already had some good input from the current Rev Canon Peter Mullins of Little Coates St Michael.

My Leitch interests range from Aberdour and Dunfermline through Abbotshall and Kirkcaldy to Wemyss.  Andrew Leitch (b.1679 in Wemyss) was my 6x great grandfather.

Hi Jack, i think we may be related through the same Leitch family.

I have only just started  looking into it as my leitchs don't 'begin' until the mother of my 4xggrandfather.

james Erskine 1767 = helen leitch 1769 - 1846 Dunfermline

father Andrew Leitch 1739 Aberdour = janet Wilson

father Andrew Leitch 1715 aberdour = margaret muir/Moor 1717

father Andrew Leitch 1681? beath + isobel ballantine bennett  ( unsure about Andrew birth details 2 sisters born in wemyss) could this be your Andrew?

father james leitch 1651 Dundee = Catharine mitchie

Hello Diddy,

Yes, it's the same family.  I've got James Leitch born c.1651 in Dundee and married there in c.1678 to Christian Kathren Michie.  They had three children, all born in Wemyss:
Andrew bapt. 2 Mar 1679
Isobell bapt. 14 Aug 1681
Christian bapt. 2 Sep 1683

Andrew married Isabell Ballantine (b.1685 in Beath) on 10 Jun 1706 in Beath.  They had six chidren:
Elspet bapt. 27 Apr 1707 in Beath
Margaret bapt. 1709 in Dunfermline
John bapt. 9 Mar 1712 in Aberdour
Andrew born 17 Jan bapt. 20 Jan 1715 in Aberdour
William bapt. 22 Aug 1718 in Aberdour
Isobel bapt. 12 Jul 1726 in Aberdour

There's a quite lot more and i'm wondering if we should carry this on via a pm or even on the Fife board.  Do let me know what you think.

Regards,

Jack
