These are extracts from Wills of my ancestors.
I have cut most of them out.
They were from Alvanley and Manley area, and were mostly BMD`d in Frodsham.
Does anyone know where abouts the place names I`ve highlighted might have been.

my messuage and tenement in Manley and land in Kingsley and Croton

.1743 John Wilcoxon of Alvanley
..... with the lands  situate lying and being in Alvanley commonly called Gerrards? of the Green
all that my messuage and tenement with the lands   in Alvanley aforesaid  commonly called Cowleys

You could try http://maps.cheshire.gov.uk/tithemaps/
Croton is probably Crowton which with Norley and Kingsley are on modern maps.

Th best place to look is here in the tithe maps. You can download the plot details as a spreadsheet and search for the plot names.

I know, that's why I said the best place to look in the tithe maps   ;D

If you go to that page and put in the township you can download all the plot details and easily search offline.

Thanks to you all, I have seen this site before and found a couple of my Wilcoxons around Chester.
I guess as far back as 1700s it`s going to be pretty difficult to pinpoint them.
I have found some very similer place names on the Tithe, problem is  on the wills, it only says  *** Wilcoxon of Manley / Alvanley/ Onston / Acton etc. and the names are places they bequeathed.
The Manley / Alvanley are definiately my line. I very much doubt if a dwelling would still be standing after all these years, probably a pile of rubble somewhere in a field,  but when my line moved to Denbs about 1770, they went to Cornish Hall, Holt, built in the 1600 s, and thats still there and lived in today as a working dairy farm.
Thanks again.
