David Edwards - dob approx 1856 - Aberdare
« on: Sunday 07 June 09 17:49 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find an accurate date of birth for David Edwards born in approx 1856 in Aberdare.  His parents were Edward and Mary Edwards and according to 1861 census records they lived in Cwmaman, Aberdare.

Would appreciate any information.

Hello  :)

Not sure whether you have found David's birth details, but if not you will need to obtain the birth certificate.

Aberdare was part of Merthyr Tydfil registration district until 1935 when it transferred to Pontypridd.

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/merthyr%20tydfil.html

Local register offices can supply a copy certificate for a fee. For example, Merthyr say "The minimum information we require to start a trace on any entry is the registration district, a year and a name.  However the more information you supply the higher the odds are of us finding the entry."

If you provide his name, year of birth, parents names, father's occupation, 1861 address, hopefully they will find the certificate. You can also order certificates from GRO but will only get a refund if you don't specify a reference number. (You need to ask them to conduct a search on your behalf.)

Kind regards
Morgan
