Jones in Walsall
« on: Thursday 11 June 09 15:41 BST (UK) »
Bit of a long shot with the name Jones, but I have come to a full stop trying to trace my Great Grandfathers parents. He was Charles Edward Jones b 1885 in Walsall. I am told by only surviving relative who remembers him that he had 2 brothers Thomas and John (Jack). John being the eldest and who is believed to have disappeared on to the road as a tramp. While Charles and Thomas were taken into an orphanage (Walsall was mentioned?) when the family split up (reason not known).
Their was also 2 sisters one, Catherine or Caroline the other Mary who I was told were taken into a convent in maybe Hereford when the family split.
I think this might be a tall order so not holding my breath.

have you got any idea as to who he married?  if you were able to get the marriage certificate it would give you his father's name

Re bmd, probably not him as my aunt, his daughter said later in life he had problems because his birth was not originally registered.

I do know who he married, Amy Nicklin b 1887.

I did find him aged 5 in 1891 census (folio 6, page 6, schedule 37), living at the Jones family address my Aunt had mention previously, 15 Ryecroft St., Walsall foreign, but with the Quiller family as grandson??. My aunt did mention once that he may have been taken under the wing of a Tom Qaulters a family friend or lodger????
