My Great Great Uncle was Richard James - he married Alice Elizabeth James in Lambeth, in the September quarter of 1897.
In the 1901 census they are living at 19, Leander Road, Lambeth with their son Harold Mattock James (born 18th November 1898).
I would be interested if anyone has any information on this family. I believe that the son, Harold Mattock James died in April 1984 (aged 85), Sutton, Surrey.
I remember my Great Uncle telling me that his 'Uncle Richard' (the aforementioned Richard James) was granted 'Freedom of the City of London' - but I don't know how to find out if this was in fact true . He also said that Richard's son studied at Cambridge ...but again, I have not had the information to confirm this.
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated, as I'd love to find out a little more about this branch of our family. I would also be interested to find out where Richard & Alice Elizabeth are buried.
