Hi!

I'm looking for any Steels buried in Carnwath. My Steel ancestors lived in Carnwath and Dunsyre from approximately 1700 (the earliest known ancestor, at least). Any help is greatly appreciated. I do not know any dates of death. The names of all Steel ancestors from that area are as follows.

1. James Steel
2. Janet Steel nee Broun (Brown)
3. Thomas Steel b. 1729 in Dunsyre
4. Elizabeth Steel nee Davidson.
5. Margaret Steel b. 1727
6. Janet Steel b. 1731
7. Helen Steel b. 1735

I am especially interested in James Steel, Janet Broun, Thomas Steel and Elizabeth Davidson. Any information is greatly appreciated!
Kati

Hi Sancti,I see this was back in April but I wasn't on RC then. You mentioned a Tweedie in the Carnwath photos you took,I just wondered what the name was as I have a family of Tweedie's in Carnwath spanning at least a century possibly more.

Hello everyone,

I am a descendant of Rev James Walker (1821-1891) through his son William (1858-1935).

I have been trying to trace James Walker's ancestors with limited success. I understand that his father, James Walker (d. 1839) was also a minister and was married to Jane French.

I have the names of their children as James (1821-1891), Agnes Gibson (b. 1823), Andrew (b. 1824), Norman Mcdonald Lockhart (b. 1826), Isabella Aitkin (b. 1829), Jane (b. 1831), Charles Mcdonald Lockhart (b. 1834), Helen (b. 1835) and John Martin (b. 1837).

I would be very grateful if anyone has more information concerning James Walker's ancestors, who I understand may have also been clergyman and/or his children.

Thanks sancti, that's useful. I didn't know he was married before Adamina.

As far as I know, he had seven children with Adamina, the four you mentioned and William (1858-1935), James (b. 1856) and George (b. 1863). All born in Carnwath.
