Norris/McCorkell Williamson/Campbell
« on: Friday 25 February 05 02:47 GMT (UK) »
 ???

I need some help in finding out any information on Thomas Norris and also his wife. Matilda McCorkell.  In the 1891 census in Londonderry, Ireland, Thomas is not mentioned (probably working away from home) but is the father of Mary (1870), Rebecca (1871), John (1872), Matilda (1874), Thomas (1876), Robert (1879), Maria (1880) and Sarah (1882).  Would love to find out date of birth, parent's and sibling names of both Thomas and Matilda

Also on John Williamson and Mary Jane Campbell who moved to Londonderry after their marriage pre-1886 in the Leckpatrick Parish Church, district of Strabane.  They went on to have seven children, Minnie (1886), Joseph (1888), Robert ( ?? ), John (1893), Frances (1897), Charles (1900) and Sarah Jane (1905).   John's father was called Robert and Mary Jane's father was called Joseph.  Mary Jane came from Disart (townland near Leckpatrick). Would loved to find out date of births, names of mother's and any siblings.

Any help would be appreciated.

Found out that Thomas & Matilda (McCorkell) Norris were married in Ballyarnett Presbyterian Church on 21/02/1867, although Thomas's surname is down as " Norry ".  They lived in Aubrey Street, The Fountain at the time of the census, yet when Rebecca (2nd daughter - my great grandmother) got married it was at the other end of town at Glendermot 1st Presbyterian Church on 17/09/1891, so there seemed to be a bit of moving around for the family.

Anybody know anything else about Thomas & Matilda, i.e. brothers/sister & parents name and locations.

Any help would be appreciated.
Frances

The marriage certificate of Thomas and Matilda should list their fathers' names and occupation as well as the names of 2 witnesses who might be related.
IGI lists 4 children of Thomas and Matilda: John (1872), Matilda (1874), Robert (1879), Maria (1880).
Londonderry Sentinel, 26 Feb.1867: February 21, in the Ballyarnet Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. R. McCreery, Mr. Thomas Norry, Ballymagroarty, to Matilda, daughter of Mr. James McCorkell, Dundrain.
To find more details of parents and possible siblings you will need to search for church records.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Perhaps this is helpful as well: James Norry is listed in Griffith's Valuation circa 1858 as living in Ballyarnett on property owned by James Browne, who's sister, Frances, married Bartholomew McCorkell 17 August 1843. The later took up residence at Ballyarnett.

I can add that Frances Brown's mother was a Kincaid.  You can find information (albeit which needs to be treated with caution) on these Browns in "Burke's Irish Family Records" [American Edition.  New York: Arco Publishing Co Inc, 1976.  p. 172-173].
Kincaids (Kincade, Kinkaid, Kinkead, etc.) of Counties Londonderry and Tyrone.

I have Joseph's wife as Mary Quigley and children as John, Margaret & Ann. Is this your connection? If it is I will be able to fill in a few missing parts in your family tree back about 3 generations before Joseph.
