1891 and 1901 census Greenwood
« on: Thursday 18 June 09 15:19 BST (UK) »
Could I trouble someone to look up John Greenwood m. 1882 Hannah Bedford living in Ramsey, please.

I am trying to confirm these are the parents of Bertie or Bert Greenwood.

Thanks,

Curttom.

Further to this, I don't know if anyone can help but I have a problem with the death dates of John and Hannah, can't find them anywhere.

My grandmother thought that John married two sisters, but I can't seem to establish this as I can't find Hannah before 1891.
I am taking a trip to the new library in Huntingdon so I hope I might get a bit further with my research but if anyone can help in the meantime, that would be great.

Thanks.

Hello Curttom

It looks like John Greenwood married Hannah Bedford in the March qtr of 1882 Huntingdon R.D

It looks like John was married before to Eliza Mace whom he married in the Dec qtr of 1872

1881....John a potato merchant (greengrocer) aged 29 is seen in the 1881 census at Newtown, Ramsey, Hunts with his wife Eliza aged 30 and no children, a bit later in the same year an Eliza Greenwood aged 31 dies in the Sep qtr of 1881 Huntingdon.

Hannah appears to have died in the June qtr of 1916 Huntingdon R.D aged 67 and as for John you have a choice of two...
John Greenwood died March qtr 1914 Huntingdon R.D aged 66
John Greenwood died Sep qtr 1920 Huntingdon R.D aged 70

1911
131 Great Whyte Ramsey, Hunts
John Greenwood.....head....60.......farmer (employer).....Ramsey, Hunts
Hannah...."..............wife.....60........................................   "
Arthur......"...............son......28 (single) "........................   "
Hubert....."...............son......21 (single) "........................   "
Minnie......"...............daur.....19......................................   "
Ada Mills................servant...19....general servant..........Gt Raveley, Hunts
*married 30 years, 5 children born alive, 4 still living, 1 has died.

Hope you don't mind me dropping in on the posting. Sometimes when looking you find something of interest.

I have an interest in the Greenwood families and Mills families as Ada was a very distant relative sharing a relative back with myself to 1774 when my first Mills ancestor was recorded. However some Mills females married into Greenwood families in Ramsey where Greenwood is a very popular family name. However not this one.

I wonder what happened to Ada Ellen Mills b 1893 (the year her father died) in later life?

Hi Roy,

As far as I know there are no Mill's that I have come across in our family, It looks like Ada was a servant in this household.

Good luck with your searching.
