Hi,

Could some kind person tell me if William Bubbings (prob. b. abt. 1790) appears in a '41 census for Stalham, in Norfolk, please? For the moment I am just trying to establish his wife's name.

Thanks.

Hello Roger,

I had a look through all of Stalham 1841 (not very long, only 16 pages) and there are no Bubbings.

Nearest I could get was a William Bobbins, age 49, Ag Lab, living with Elizabeth Bobbins, age 47, at Low Street, North Elmham.

I had a look at the Norfolk Marriages 1801-1837 CD, and there is only one William Bubbins marriage  (mind you, it IS at Stalham).
"William Bubbins married Maria Flowerday, 25 3 1811, Stalham"
There's another marriage which is quite interesting too - at Stalham, Edward Bubbins married Mary Flowerday 13 6 1808.

Two brothers marrying two sisters?

Thanks for looking, Yorkslass,

I'm fairly sure that the Bubbins/Bubbings marriage to Maria is the right one, I was just concerned that the I.G.I. said Martha or Maria, as both are possibles.

And yes, FreeReg seems to support the "brothers marrying sisters" idea.

Kinda' sweet! ;D
